“Operation Key West” (OKW) is a program founded by Jim McGonigle and co-founded by Lt. Gen (Ret.) Ronald Blanck, Former Surgeon General of the Army and Vice Adm. (Ret.) Harold Koenig, Former Surgeon General of the Navy. This program was originally developed to provide military parents who had lost a child the time to get away, regroup, and to start to heal. It has expanded to also help military families with seriously/chronically ill children. At present, Operation Key West is partnered with three of the top U.S. military hospitals. Together, we can help support the families who are committed to supporting us.
Operation: Key West is the first to recognize the needs of military parents that have had to deal with the loss of a child, by sending them on a vacation of their choice.
